Children work hard at school to develop sound work habits and independence in taking responsibility for their own actions and belongings. They require time to relax from the rigours of the school day and for this reason homework will be kept to a minimum.
Homework in Grade 4 should not exceed 30 minutes per day and follows the guidelines set out in the BLPS Homework policy. All students should read daily for a sustained period of silent reading. Other homework will generally include revision of spelling words that are introduced in class. Students may consolidate their learning by choosing extra activities from a range of Maths, Spelling and Inquiry Learning tasks. Regular revision of multiplication tables is most beneficial. Completion of homework is optional. Parents who wish their child to be exempt from homework are required to complete a Homework Exemption form which is available from the school office.
