Proud To Be Me was a play about understanding that everyone is different and we all have special qualities. We loved getting up and dancing, listening to the stories and having a go at acting. We learnt that everyone is different – and that’s great! If you make a mistake, don’t give up – try again!
Professor Maths came to our school. He was awesome. He had so many fun games for us to play. We worked in groups of four and moved around as many activities as we could. There were shape puzzles, addition fishing, addition ten pin bowling, jigsaws, mazes, cube building and lots more. We learnt to work as a team to solve problems. We discovered that the first answer is not always the best answer. Some of us were really good at not giving up. If we solved a really tricky puzzle we got to wear Professor Maths wigs.
On Harmony Day we worked with our Grade 4 buddies to make a Harmony Bracelet. We used our ‘Getting Along’ skills and worked together to plait or twist coloured threads to make a bracelet. Our Harmony Bracelets were made using the colours of the flags from all the countries where Grade 1K families have come from.
